Women must act together

The following ideas were written down after long talks with everyday women. They are written from the perspective of these women.

Women have many interests that they share with one another.

One common concern is male infidelity.

Men who seek a sexual relationship with a woman often make sweeping promises: "I love only you!" or "I will love you forever!"

In fact, many of us women, if we have proper self-respect, would not agree to a sexual relationship for less than a promise of exclusive, lifelong love. Anything less feels cheap and unacceptable.

Why can men not keep their word? Why do so many men lie? It is a common interest among women that men honor their commitments.

Many men are philanderers. When we are young, they promise eternal love, but when we are older, they leave us for younger women. This feels deeply unfair.

We stay with a man during our prime because he promises to stay with us even when our beauty declines. Then, when we are older, we feel discarded. Where is the justice in that?

Women deserve respect and justice. We want to build a better society, one ruled by fairness, not one that is inherently unfair to women.

Throughout history, men have predominantly determined the structure of societies. From this perspective, it is argued that men have failed to build truly fair societies, and that women must lead this effort.

It is important that women form organizations to protect the rights of women that have been trampled upon.

First of all, women must respect other women. We must educate younger women to respect the existing relationships of others. Young women should not encourage older, already-partnered men to court them. Only women of poor character would entice a man to break up an existing relationship to start a new one. Such individuals are viewed as deserving of similar abandonment when they are older.

If women are organized and aware of their common interests, they can exert significant influence on both legal systems and public opinion.

To curb male infidelity, some argue that legal constraints are necessary. In fact, traditional societies had a strict system in place: the institution of marriage.

Many traditional societies did not allow divorce, and extramarital affairs were considered crimes.

In principle, this could be seen as a good system, though from this perspective, it is argued it should be applied strictly to men. If a woman seeks intimacy outside of a marriage, it is viewed as a clear indication of deficiencies in her male partner.

Typically, if women seek relationships outside of a marriage, there are valid reasons. The male partner promised to love her forever; otherwise, she would not have agreed to the marriage.

However, over time, he often becomes indifferent. He shows affection at first, but eventually, he no longer cares. There are no more sweet words, roses, or kisses—only the burden of household work.

Many men do not understand women. Women need love and attention throughout their lives, not just when they are young.

But when women are united, we can hold men accountable. If men know they cannot easily find alternatives, they will think twice before abandoning us.
