Modern societies are much more sexualized than traditional societies ever were. In traditional societies, most people, after their sexual prime, became preoccupied with unromantic problems such as managing their livelihoods and health issues.
In modern societies, people remain sexually active up to an advanced age. This poses a dilemma for women, as even under favorable circumstances, women cannot preserve their sexual market value as well as men. As this affects all women, it is not surprising that they form solidarity organizations, advocating for measures they believe will protect their sexual interests.
